Smile Design Dental Laboratory is an established dental lab based in the North West of England providing all aspects of crown & bridge, veneer and implant work to dentists and patients through out the UK and trust that your experience with us to be positive. we are a DAMAS approved laboratory dedicated to first class standards to all our clients. Smile Design Dental Laboratory was established in 2010 by Tautvydas Butkus. Tautvydas began this journey on his own with one goal in mind “to be the very best” with the aim of providing a high standard of technical work to a select group of clients. Over the past 6 years we have built a reputation for consistent high quality and reliability and with such passion and determination smile design has now grown into a team of 7 employees. With our ability to offer an exceptional level of work and forge long-lasting professional relationships with the clinicians we work with while remaining ahead of the technology curve to assist you in all aspects of cosmetic dentistry we have become one of the leading dental laboratories in the North West.

Here at smile design we pride ourselves on the exact match of our crowns to natural teeth. To ensure the accurate shade, shape and texture is achieved we offer to match it personally, either at our premises or visiting clients at their surgeries. One of our ceramic technicians will ensure that an accurate shade is taken and that any queries are answered. The patient experience will be such that they'll simply view us as an extension of your team.

Tautvydas Butkus originally studied in information technology in his home town in Lithuania where he met his wife who was studying to become a dentist. It was then that Tautvydas became aware of the different areas in dentistry and took great interest in dental technology as he realised he could combine his artistic hands along with his knowledge of computers in this profession. Tautvydas moved to the UK to pursue his career in dental technology in 2006 studying the foundation degree at Manchester metropolitan university. Tautvydas qualified in 2010 graduating with distinction and setting up his own business in the same year. Tautvydas has a wealth of knowledge in many areas of dental technology with his main passion in ceramics and implantology, as well as having great knowledge of all the different implant systems Tautvydas is also a Straumann Platinum approved technician and is tested every year in order to keep this status along with being a member of the dental laboratory association and is also an official approved Amann Girrbach ceramill CAD/CAM scanning and milling centre.

Over the 11 years in the dental technology profession Tautvydas has built up a reputation and established himself as one of the leading technicians in the North West due to his passion and commitment of hard work and intense training.

Organisation and communication is key to the success and smooth running of Smile Design Dental Laboratory. Here at Smile design our admin team are top of their game when it comes to organisation, co-ordinating each admin duty like a military operation providing no room for error and keeping up to date and on top of each duty such as accounts, orders, CPD management and the day to day running of the office. Our admin team are responsible for co-ordinating the collections and delivery of work on time whether it is sent by courier, post or delivered personally.

Computerised CADCAM technology adds exciting dimension to the products and services we provide to our clients. The combination of our highly skilled technical team, intra oral scanning technology and our CADCAM milling and printing systems all done in-house enables us to produce high precision restorations using modern high performance materials. We are embracing the digital revolution that has taken dentistry to a new level with our aim in becoming a digital lab in the future.

Our dream team of ceramist are the ultimate creators for beautiful aesthetic and functional restorations. Our ceramists have great artistic flair with an eye for detail and are trained in a number of ceramic systems including traditional porcelain bonded ceramics as well as newer systems such as all ceramic, pressed/milled and CAD/CAM zirconia substructures.

Care and attention of detail is one of the most important factors in dental technology and this is where it all begins with the production of our high precision models. Our plaster room team have a clear understanding that the precise making of models is one of the most important tasks to ensure an accurate production of our restorations is possible.

Here at smile design we use the Amann Girrbach giro form model system in order to guarantee precise, fast and cost effective manufacturing of models. Our plaster room team also have the responsibility of articulation using our fully and semi adjustable Artex and Denar articulators, the manufacturing of whitening trays and vacuum formed stents, guides and retainers.

Whether you need a single restoration or a large bridge, implants are a very viable and practical option. We have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of Implant dentistry and it is a significant part of our business. At Smile Design we work with a variety of leading implant systems such as Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Ankylos, Astra, Osstem, Bio Horizons plus most key brands toensure that we have options available for every requirement.

This area of dentistry has made significant advances over the last 20 years and patients are now expecting results that are longer lasting with great beauty. With the new and improved materials such as pressable, milled and fieldspathic porcelains along with CADCAM technology allow us to produce veneers in the thinnest possible sections with minimal tooth reduction. Additionally these products can hide any discolouration whilst providing the same translucency, depth of colour and fluorescence found in natural teeth.

The all ceramic restoration is the ultimate in aesthetics and has become the main option of private dentistry in the last few years. Our metal free restorations are CADCAM designed milled in-house and can be manufactured in materials such as Zirconia Oxide, zolid or Pressed Ceramic, Emax, Vitablocs TriLuxe Forte or Vita Enamic offering superior aesthetics combined with high bio-compatibility and ever increasing strength helping over come issues where there may have been in the past for example: bridges. All ceramic restorations enables us to deliver outstanding aesthetics with the most predictable shade matching even for the most complex of cases as they react to light in a very similar way as natural teeth.

Patients demand for higher aesthetics in cosmetic dentistry are forever increasing and so is the need to find a dental laboratory that excels in this area. Here at Smile Design we have huge experience in the field of smile design delivering the ultimate in aesthetics. All though metal ceramics may be considered to of been overtaken by all ceramicc restorations the conventional metal ceramics will always be an option due to their robust durability and exceptional masking properties allowing for good aesthetics when an all ceramic solution is not viable. For our porcelain bonded crowns and bridges we offer a range of alloys such as sintron (Non-precious sintering metal for in-house dry milling) and along with our production process ensures great aesthetics and optimum functional occlusion can be achieved.
